Iām Channae, I started this non-profit in 2021. It was after enduring the backwards system of criminal justice. I was not seeing it with being black and white. There was a lot of grey. There was a lot of individuals getting away with murder yet incarcerating the ones innocent. I was seeing raping, trafficking, showing evidence yet no one would listen to me. I started to realize in order for change to happen I had to get smarter, The Art of War.
You may lose battles, the real victory is winning the war.
I was wrongfully incarcerated 15 times. DCFS took my kids for reporting on my abuser. They drove me to the point of wanting to give up. I wanted to sign over my rights, kill myself, and not do this any longer. Support leaned me the other way. I started to see there were good ones. There were kinds that were similar to me that actually cared.
In this process of finding our structure. Curriculums, team, outlook is that people suck. They suck when they have not healed. They do not practice what they preach. They are advocating for our people yet going home and their beating their wife behind closed doors. They are eating too much salt and then yelling at the ones for smoking cigarettes. There is a lot of hypocrisy.
Lets be the change in the system and holding our word accountable. Lets not forge names, steal, or break into cars any more. Lets keep on the path forward. That rearview mirror is for protection. History does not need to repeat. Lets flip the script of a death sentence in two years. Lets make it to forever and always. You got this, we got this. We are golden. š
