Dreams, Dogs, & Donuts held by USARA and The Other Side

On Friday, July 18, 2025, JBO joined our incredible community partners for “Dreams, Dogs, and Donuts,” a vibrant Family Fun Day hosted by The Other Side Donuts and USARA (Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness)at 760 S Redwood Road in Salt Lake City.

The event brought families, neighbors, and organizations together in a joyful atmosphere filled with karaoke, face painting, open mic performances, and—of course—free donuts and hot dogs (while supplies lasted!). But more than just fun, this event was a meaningful reminder of the power of community connection and recovery-centered support.

    🤝 JBO in the Community

    JBO showed up with:

    • Trauma-informed resources for justice-impacted individuals and families
    • Peer support tools and information
    • Connection to upcoming healing-centered workshops and events

We had the chance to meet new faces, reconnect with old friends, and share space with community members who are walking their own journeys of healing, recovery, and empowerment.

Events like these are at the heart of what JBO stands for—bridging systems with lived experience and offering real, human-centered support to those most often left out of traditional justice spaces.

    💖 Thank You, Partners

A heartfelt thank-you to The Other Side DonutsUSARA, and all the other organizers and volunteers who made this event so meaningful. We’re proud to be part of a movement where recovery, justice, and joy can coexist.

My story Matters classes held at the JBO office help our team and others align with thier vision and passions.

Visions. Visionaries are within all of us! What do you see in your vision to create change?

If you had a magic wand, what would you change within our criminal justice system?

We’re deeply grateful for this incredible program, it has given so many of us the tools to reflect, rewrite, and reclaim our stories. Whether it’s creating a new vision, reframing our purpose, or simply finding hope again, My Story Matters continues to be a life-changing resource for our community.

2025 Reentry Through Employment Symposium with UDC

We had a great time learning how to empower, support, and help ones re-entering into society. Second chances are part of our motto here at Justice By Objectives. Let’s help the ones that are needing guidance the most and shine the flash light on the bright future in their pathway!

Reentry symposiums are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals returning to their communities after incarceration. They bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience, service providers, policymakers, and community leaders, to address the challenges and opportunities associated with reentry.

    Meet Channae Haller

Finding my purpose has been a battle after a battle, a series of wounds that led me to the war I continue to face today. It didn’t come from peace or clarity, but from injustice, confusion, and survival. I didn’t wake up one day with direction; I lived through days where I had to fight just to stay afloat. Justice By Objectives at the Utah Peer Conference 2025

From powerful speakers who moved and inspired us, to the deep, authentic connections made with peers across the field, this gathering was a true reflection of what’s possible when support, community, and shared purpose come together.

Lived experience professionals are crucial in all areas of life. In particular, criminal justice system. Trust is hard for some of us that has had too many stabs in the back, having that affinity that you have been in the same boat, is the way through.

Peacemaking Circle with The Peacemaking Institute

JBO recently participated in a three-day introductory training on systems and community partnerships in Utah, and it was an incredible privilege to witness authentic healing, trust, and collaboration in such a deeply human way.

The presence, participation, and vulnerability of everyone involved allowed us to take meaningful steps toward co-designing a robust restorative justice program—one that supports healing not only for our communities, but also within the systems that serve them.

Together, we are building the foundation to lead transformative change and promote a more just and safe society for all.
